Just as it says, how do you store your sharp knives? I had such terrible ones for so long, they were just in a drawer.
I've just purchased some individual new ones, but they're not in a block or anything. I'd like to protect them from damage as much as I can! |

I have a knife block. I've also seen people use magnetic strips to hold them.

I have been told the Magnetic strip can damage knives, but I don't know how (I wanted one so bad in my kitchen). I would go out and buy a block. I think you can get them from good kitchenware stores (Victoria's basement) if you have one. I looked on ebay, and to tell the truth, there is not much there.
We have a block which holds the knives horizontal, so no sliding it in and out of a 'block' and blunting the knives. |

I have mine in knife blocks, but when I didn't have these, I kept them up high away from kids and just in a drawer or a high cupboard.

I have a block that is kept behind my coffee machine, out of reach of any littlies that may visit. My two are old enough to know not to touch them without supervision.
I have Wustoff ones and have just had two replaced under warranty as the handles, started to peel and chip. We never put them in the dishwasher and they are always hand washed and dried. Invest in a good sharpener or get them professionally sharpened aver few minths depending on use. My good knives are an investment tqhat juat keep giving |

Thanks! Think I'll need to invest in a block.

I saw these at our local kitchen shop. Very interesting, I'm thinking of getting one to get the knife block out of the pantry. I had mine up high but my kids are older now so I don't need them out of the way. |

My Baccarat block has that stuff in it, it's awesome - means you can put the knives in the order you want (so most used ones closest) and it's very gentle on them.
Definitely never put good knives in a dishwasher either - hand wash in hot soapy water and dry |

Mine are stored in a knife block on top of the fridge.

And store the knives in the knife block upside down so that you don't blunt the knives each time you slide them in and out if the block.
