Do you have a reason for one? Your doctor can give you a script and you can get them on PBS.
Don't the current exact amount. They used to be around $100 each. |

I requested one when my son tested (moderate) peanut allergic.
The allergist didn't suggest it but when I read the report and did some research, I wasn't comfortable. So I went to my GP and she gave me a script for the epipen. |

My brother has one for his bee allergy (life threatening). I do recall him saying it was very expensive, but seeing as he'd be dead without it if a bee stung him I think it's kind of worth it.

I can't remember how much they were (my script was for two - one for home and one for daycare).... so it can't have been that scary. I'm sure it was less than $100 for both

They are just over $100 without an approved script, about $15 with an approved script.
It would appear you can buy them over the counter?? Not certain, but that is the impression 2 chemists have given me now. ETA: I think it might be called an 'authority script' rather than approved script. EDIT again: For two the over the counter cost is $205.70. With an authority script two cost $36.10. I don't have a health care card. This post has been edited by ~maryanne~: 28/01/2013, 05:50 PM |

I think mine were about $30 each on script from DS' allergist? I have two - one for daycare, and one for my handbag. Keep in mind they expire every 12 months and you prob won't have 12 months on the ones you buy, if that makes sense. I've bought some from our rural chemist that have less than 6 months on them!

You can get am authority script for epipens. The first one If from an allergist doesn't require authority. The next ones get in to the go before they expire because the gp sends the script to the authority who then post it to you. You get 2 for $36 until the age of 18 and then it is more expensive or you only get one.

If you don't have an authority script you can get it speaking to the pharmacist for about $120
