I'm advanced but not too advanced
Sydneysiders - how are you preparing for the rain and winds predicted from midnight. DH has been clearing gutters and placing anything that could fly away in as safe place as he can. We live western Sydney (but not as far as Penrith).

It has been raining all day but not to heavily.

Good luck all in Sydney and of course anyone in NSW and QLD affected by this weather.

My prep involves avoidance, denial with a little bit of crapping myself thrown in for good measure!

Keeping a torch and chocolate next to my bed in case of having to move to a safe spot in the middle of the night, away from windows.

The wind is already shaking my windows

I am in Newcastle/hunter valley area so 2 hrs nth of sydney but its been raining heavy all day and parts of newcastle are already flooded and the wind has just picked up.

There isn't much we can do around the house to prepare we have torches and candles in case of a blackout and mobile phones fully charged in case we need to call someone and there's a blackout.

But other then that we are just waiting for the rain and wind to pass.

Give me my coffee and no one gets hurt!!!
South Sydney here.

We put the new outdoor furniture indoors, and I made sure we could open the back garage door so we can slip in and open the roller door manually if we lose power.

Learned this the hard way a few years ago when I'd pulled the car in so far we couldn't open the normal back garage door as it smacked into the car. DH missed a really important meeting as we couldn't get the cars out.

More worried about all the trees around our property. Lots of old gum trees.

The end of our road was already flooded at noon today. sad.gif

Keeping the dog inside and hoping the completely dead and ring barked tree that the owner won't remove stays upright

Hills district here. Just moved outdoor furniture inside and dropped the net down on the trampoline. Also have my phone charging and a torch ready in case of blackout. Don't think I am at risk of flooding, would only be wind damage and issues getting to work in the morning.

Sadly I don't expect others to fair so well.

In Newcastle here also- had a baby due last Thursday who still hasn't arrived so our storm plan is to keep legs crossed in order to avoid having to go out in this weather!
