Brisbane has been asked to conserve water. The water filtration plant has been shut down.
Premier has asked we use HALF our collective daily use.
Essential water use only.

I am an exclusive MCN and cloth wipe user but have asked DP to pick up some nappies and wet wipes. To save a load of washing every day.

We will be observing the "if its yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down" rule too as every half flush uses up to 5L of water

So, what are your tips?

I'll see how many "rings of confidence" lurk on the wee ones necks tonight - that will decide whether it's tops n tails or communal bath & shower.
DP and I are doing the communual bathing thing too.

He is dead keen.
I'm not.

Mellow yellow here too plus no car washing, pool filling, deck hosing, etc.

Washing I will put off until the weekend - hopefully all clear by then.

Water from steamed vegies/pasta will be redistributed to plants.

We have a 40L cap on our showers, in our tub that's just 4cm of water. The kids get capped at 40L as well (we can do this thanks to having one of those fancy hot water systems that turn the hot water off after a preset volume). Plus the kids do the whole bath water sharing thing to.

Run the dishwasher once a day, no hand washing of dishes.

If you can, hold off on doing any laundry or make sure you have a full load first.

If things get really desperate we do sponge baths, I don't think things are that bad yet.

I honestly don't see how we can pare our water usage back any further, I can't put disposables on my kids so the laundry is a non negotiable area.
