I have popped one of these liquid cleaners in my machine this morning and set it on the longest cycle with an extra hot rinse but after opening the door for a sticky beak the seal is still in the bottle even though the wash cycle has started. It doesnt feel hot enough in there to dissolve the seal, does it not happen until the rinse ???? Dont really want to find that running my dishwasher empty for 3 hours was a total waste of time.

To wash my dishwasher I use bicarb and vinegar.

I put the bi carb in the detergent area and also sprinkle liberally all over the place and the vinegar in the rinse section.

I am not sure, but I use the coles homebrand one and it works really well

Maybe a silly question - did you peel the sticker off first?
I haven't had that problem, the hot water melts the seal. Does the bottle feel hot to touch - are you sure the cycle has got to the hot water part yet?

I did the whole vinegar and bicarb last week and the inside looked lovely, until i lifted the big metal cover out of the bottom and everything there was still greasy and horrible. I was rather disapointed because i thought i was being so thrifty and eco friendly

LOL yep the sticker is off. Hmmm will check again and see if its hotter yet.... Ok so it does get hotter . Still sealed though hope its not a dodgy bottle. I wonder how long i should leave it before i poke a hole in the bottle.

I did one in my dishwasher last week and was peeved that when it finished the little bottle was full still.

I HAD pulled the sticker off. The remaining seal is wax.

Unfortunately what I hadnt noticed was the sticker I removed left a flim over the wax plug so while the wax melted the film didnt allow the liquid to come out.

I took the lid off the bottle, scraped the film off then melted a candle to plug up the hole again.

Ran the dishwasher again and it was happy as larry and clean as a whistle.

If you are using the finish ones, I always find that I need to scrape just a little of the wax out with my nail.

I love the clean, but for some reason the wax doesnt always come out.

I have no trouble with the Finish ones.

I love the nice fresh smell afterwards. I'd never had a dishwasher until last year and was horrified at how stinky they get.
