I actually like the BB. the way it is now. Having it in small portions is much better than a lump sum and I do think the 'average' family can do with help. I do think its way too much though.
The school bonus is just that. If I remember correctly it was touted as a way of helping out people in this hard economic time. So unless TA's lot is going to make everything cheaper and more affordable for the 'average' family, then I think making statements like this has just lost him the vote.
People dont like getting money taken off them.
Totally agree which is why I think he was perhapes advised against scrapping it. It is also why I think the BB will stay inplace with the amount that it is. But the SB is a bonus when your kids start school the BB a bonus when you have a baby.

So if it had stayed the ETR would he have scrapped that too? Or just because its now a bonus he is going to scrap it? Well I hope he doesn't get in. This is a huge help with back to school costs.
As is the BB to people who are not eligable for PPL.

But at the same time he seems to be pushing on with his very generous maternity leave scheme.
*I mean very generous to those already on high incomes.
The thing that I like the most about TA's maternity leave is the difference in time you can have off or how long the money is designed to last you for. 6 weeks to me is a huge difference, I am in the lucky position of being able to have the PPL last me for up to 18 months before we have to start looking at cutting back or me getting a part time job but I understand I am in the minority there.
