My baby is 5 years old. She will turn 6 in May. She's very smart! At the beginning of the school year she was in the 1st grade. Straight A student...reading on a 3.6 grade level. But here's the problem: She's not being a good listener. After speaking with her 1st grade teacher and principal, we decided to place her back into kindergarten. They seemed to think it was a maturity issue. Personally, i think it was a discipline issue. It was a hard decision but I think it was for the best. Because she's at a private school she's able to receive private reading lessons which is GREAT! Over the past 7 months she has become very difficult. I never had the terrible 2s or 3s....everything changed at 4.5! My patience is sooooo very short! Not sure what happened when she blew out those birthday candles but she is something. What type of methods do you use to handle your kids when they are not on task! What do you all think about spanking? My husband works a lot so he's not home most of the time...besides, she listens to him. He says i'm a softy.... wink.gif .....

Hi op just bumping this for you in the hope someone has been thru something similar & can share. If ur dd's difficulties with listening is behavioural that can be challenging to address. My dd had similar issues when she started school last year. Despite our efforts to help improve we found she got better with time as she matured.
