Hi,

I am looking for some advice please. Our car was stolen on the early hours of Boxing Day morning and they tossed all 3 of the car seats out. My Daughter will be 4 on the 8th February, she is small I think by Averages, she weights 15.4kgs and is 95cm tall.

I would have left her in her existing seat which was a HiPod Senator for another year as she seems to little to put into a Booster Style only seat even using one with anti-submarining arm rests or clip.

So while I don't want to purchase another 5 Point Harness Seat for only a Year and then purchase a Forward Facing Only Seat in 12 months, I do have the option of using my Son's old Meridian. It was purchased in 2004 and is in excellent condition (used as a back-up in my Husbands car). I know the weight limit is ok at 18kg max but I have no idea and can't find the maximum height allowed ?

How would this car seat rate for safety now?

Just not sure what would be the best option.

I am looking to buy her a Hi Liner SG (Highest Safety) when the time comes, or do you think she would be ok in this now. (Although I noted it didn't fare too well in one of the impact options that was considered important - how seats don't rate well in a certain impact situtation but still rates highly overall alarms me a little).

Any advice would be so greatly appreciated.

Note: My Boys Hi Liner were tossed too so they are using their old Infa Vario from their Dad's car, but at 40kgs, 8 & 9 Years and 130 & 135cm they are probably too big for them (even though they look ok lol). They can perhaps just sit on a half small booster seat that came with the Infa Vario so the seat belt aligns properly.

At 95cm your 4yo will most likely not even be tall enough to be in a booster.

Personally I would be getting a 5pt harness seat. The New Maxi Rider is slim has high turn to booster markings and looks easy yo use in booster mode.

I have just moved my 5.5yo to a booster from a new SNS Compaq. That should last to around 120cm in height.

Your boys should be in boosters unless they pass the five step test. Buy HiLiners for them

The 5 step test will tell if your child is big enough for the adult belt.
1. Does the child sit all the way back against the auto seat?

2. Do the child's knees bend comfortably at the edge of the auto seat?

3. Does the belt cross the shoulder between the neck and arm?

4. Is the lap belt as low as possible, touching the thighs?

5. Can the child stay seated like this for the whole trip?
If you answered "no" to any of these questions, your child needs a booster seat to make both the shoulder belt and the lap belt fit right for the best crash protection.Your child will be more comfortable, too!

Shouldn't need a booster? Maybe check with safe n sound or an installed before getting more hi liners.
My booster says 26kg. I took them out at 31kg, they are pretty tall.

2010 standard seats are not weight based. They are height based. Even the '26kg' booster seats were tested with 32kg test dummies.

In a booster seat it is the adult belt restraining your child.

The HiLiner is sold in the US as the Parkway suitable to over 50kgs.
