Put them in the freezer for a while and then see if it peels off?

I scrap it out with a butter knife then hot soapy water.

Put in freezer, then you can pop off most of the wax. Then rinse under the hot tap to get all the little remaining bits.

Put in a pot of boiling water and the wax will melt off. I do this to clean out any candle jars when they are finished and they come up like new.

I do the immerse in boiling water trick, the wax melts and because it is less dense than water it floats to the surface.

If I'm lazy and am pretty sure the item won't distort in the dishwasher I throw it in the dishwasher. From experience I advise against doing this with frosted glass candle holders, the stuff used to make the glass frosted is not dishwasher proof. On the flip side that hideous pink candle holder I got as a wedding present is now a sparkling clear glass

Freeze them! The wax will easily peel off

Depends what sort of wax it is.

Paraffin wax - you freeze and it should come off with a bit of prying.

Beeswax - you need to heat it and then wipe it up with paper toweling. It's got sticky properties and a thin film will remain on the glass if you don't manually remove it. You could try turps to help remove the last bits but make sure you allow it to fully dry/evaporate before using as candle holders again.

Soy - just pop in the dishwasher.

This is one of the reasons why I only use soy tea light candles. We always get spills and genuine soy candle wax is a vegetable oil base so washes off easily with detergent.
