DS is aged 10, we have always had trouble with him bedwetting, we never made a fuss and it just seemed to come and go. Well it is back and he is due to go on a school camp next month. He would be devastated if it happened at camp. I was wondering if it was worth seeing the GP. Is there a medication for bed wetters that he could take for those few days to help prevent it. I don't want to make a big thing of it in case he gets worked up and worried beforehand but if something like this exists then I will make an appointment with the GP to discuss.

I'm pretty sure there is a nose spray that can be used for such things. It isn't long term just thd occasional night. Your GP should be able to help

Have you tried alarms. My eight year old was wetting up to 2 or 3 times a night and is now completely dry. It has been life changing.

Yes, you can get a medication called minerin (demipressin). It comes in tablets, nasal spray or melts/wafers which are placed under the tongue, I recommend the melts/wafers. It works brilliantly for our 10 year old son. You will need to get it a little before he needs it to give it a trial run as it does not work for all children. We use it for sleep overs, holidays etc. He also had a 4 month course of it last year to see if it would kick start his own hormone production, but it was not successful. Apparently it is in some children. We are giving a bedwetting alarm another go ATM and we are starting to get fewer wet beds. Fingers crossed.

Thank you both. We did try to get a bed wetting alarm but as we are in the country we had to go on a waiting list to get one for free from the hospital. By the time we got to the top of the list the bed wetting had stopped.
The problem is it seems to go in cycles, he will go for months with dry nights then start wetting again. We actually had thought this time he was permanently dry but it was not to be. At least the dry periods are getting longer.
I will take him to the GP, we have a bit of time to try out the medication before the camp. Thank you for your help.

Hi I know this is a late reply but I just wanted to say my 5.5 yr old was wet every night so I bought an alarm off eBay $20 and free post and I tell you it has been a god send.

I still get him up late before I go to bed but he then sleeps through dry.

It is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend them. It just clips on to his undies with a small sensor inside his undies and the little alarm box is attached.

We bought a blanket alarm for $150. We used it for both of our bed setters and have left it on the youngest incase of relapse. With the cost of pull ups And additional washing we believe we're financially in front.

I had the tablets as a child and it worked but I'm such a light sleeper now and hate that. A friends child uses the spray only when she's away from home and has been happy with it.
