An article on ninemsn has as it's title: "Victorian man who 'hugged' woman arrested". It is not until the second last paragraph that you learn he has been charged with rape.
Is it fair enough to come up with the catchiest title to get people to read the article, or does this trivialise the womans experience? What about the placement of the fact he was charged with rape being almost at the end of the article? Or is it just a case of the alleged rape not being newsworthy, but the fact it started with a hug from a stranger being newsworthy?
I feel like it trivialises the womans experience, although I am not sure I can articulate why. So, I thought I would risk an EB flaming and ask WDYT?
