Hi All,
At the end of the month we are coming to Melbourne for a wedding so we decided to take some extra time to see some sights. We have approx one week staying in Dromana then we head over to Anglesea for another week. Does anyone have some suggestions on places to visit and things to see in those areas? We dont mind doing a bit of driving. With 3 kids, its easier to base ourselves just in a few places rather than pack up the whole family each day and move accommodation too frequently. So we decided we are happy to drive to see the sights. We will be hiring a car. My husband also cycles so if you know any great riding locations then I am keen to hear about them too. Thanks!!!! |

The Enchanted maze in Arthur's seat. Bring a picnic and lots of water. No water there to drink. This place is seriously worth a good few hours.
Avoid the Peninsula Hot Springs on weekends and hot days and just do the public baths if you do go. Coolart Homestead in Somers is a nice place for a picnic and a walk to the beach. Point Leo has gentle surf waves.The Briars has walks where you may see koalas, emus etc and bird hides. The playground at Sorrento is great for kids. That should get you started. |

On the peninsula - the Sculpture park: www.mcclellandgallery.com/
It's awesome!! It's totally free and set amongst beautiful bushland, lake etc. The kids can climb on and play around the sculptures in the permanent exhibition, some are interactive and they have a competition on at the moment where you can vote for your favourite in the temporary exhibition. You can take a picnic and stay as long as you like. |

Oh yes and the Frankston foreshore playground. Can you see a theme here?
ETA:I forgot to mention food. I find most places on the peninsula overpriced and under -whelming. But: the lighthouse cafe in macrae is a great thai restaurant , but book ahead. Also a place in Balnarring. Riccas. It does European food of great quality, but is more exxy. No great fish and chips I have heard of, sadly.
