We are considering going to the Anakie Fairy Park, however it is a 3 hour drive and just wondering if anyone had been recently? If so, what was it like? Thanks.

I went with a school group a couple of years ago and it was good. It's the same old exhibits from when we were kids but the kids still loved them. And the playground was as good as I remember. I think it's worth the trip, but it didn't take us 3 hours to get there.

Went three ish years ago. The kids were borderline too old for it - but they all loved it anyway. It was a great day. It's not the flashiest thing out there but it is quite gorgeous for kids your DD's age. I don't know if I'd go three hours to see it, we were staying at Queenscliff however so it was maybe an hour's drive or so. Perfect daytrip. The playground is really cool.

We went there on our holiday to Melbourne last month. Loved it. Its a bit daggy, but the kids really enjoyed it, and the playground at the bottom is really fun. (Although maybe a bit too old for your LO looking at your sig? Our girls are 3 and it was perfect for them).

Its on a fairly big hill, so pretty good exercise, but the kids really loved the displays of all the fairy tales. Definitely take a pram!

The take away food is fairly basic, but its food and not too expensive really. You can take your own BBQ stuff I think too, if you prefer that.

Having said all that, we were only staying about 45 mins away from it, so it wasn't such a big loss if we went and it didn't meet our expectations. But on the whole, it was a nice family day out.

We went about a month ago and my kids (3 and 4 yr old) loved it! They have been pestering me constantly to go back. We went on a weekday and apart from a school group we had the place to ourselves. We packed the esky and had a BBQ lunch, lucky because the kiosk wasn't open. Playground was awesome for the kids! We will be going back there again soon, but it's only a 40 minute drive for us.

This really puts me off going there. I can't see this disclaimer holding up in a court of law, but it makes me question their attitude toward paying visitors to their park.

I don't think you could really go anywhere these days without the same terms and conditions.

We went last Thursday and I was totally expecting it to be lame and tacky. I was actually hoping for lame and tacky LOL
But, we had a fantastic time! My daughter is 7 so she's really at the age where she won't enjoy it for much longer and she had a great time. We took our own picnic lunch and pretty much had the place to ourselves for most of the day. It was very well maintained and put together.
As for that disclaimer I agree: most places would have that kind of disclaimer. Also, they may have had an incident in the past and are now covering their butts

WE just went and had a fab time. Our youngest is 14 months and slept through much of our visit. He enjoyed the exhibits but his older sister definitely got a lot more out of it (she's 4). The exhibits play audio of each fairy tail and my daughter was happy to stand there and listen to whole stories. The playground is also more suited to older toddlers or younger children.
