I've just returned from a holiday to the US and to my horror discovered that a sales clerk did not remove the security tag from a pair of jeans (don't worry, I have the receipt to prove purchase!). There are no stores in Australia so I can't take it back. It was expensive so naturally I am not willing to write it off.
Has this happened to you? Does anyone have any tips for removing it myself? |

Can you post a photo of the tag?
Maybe someone has seen that brand in a shop here and you can get them to take it off for you. |

It happened to my wedding dress
So you could find a store in Oz with the same system. |

Happened to me on a skirt. Luckily the tag was in the band so i just sliced down (about 2cm) and then sewed it up again. Don't think you could do that with jeans, but if it is that or throw them out then I think I would go the chop.

Can you email the store and ask what the system is and what they suggest you do - sound like their error not yours?

Thanks. I will try to post a photo. Both sides of the tag are circular, slightly raised so not flat.
I did email and the reply was 'Unfortunately there is not a lot we can do but try taking it to other stores'. I tried one this morning and they refused. I have emailed back saying if I am unsuccessful I expect them to replace the item and cover all associated costs. No reply yet! |

Same on both sides. |

I will show DH when he gets home and ask him if he knows about them. He usually knows all the tagging systems.

It wil probably be magnetic. i would try smaller boutiques etc over a chain store (that may have a policy about removing tags from stores other than their own).
Unless labelled I doubt it has an ink reservoir so you could try a pair of needle-nosed pliers to carefully pull it apart? Also, have spent 10+ years working fashion retail dealig with security tags, not a klepto |
