I just looked at a copy of the treaty and for the first time, have seen up close the signature of my ancestor, Tamati Waka Nene, a Nga Puhi chief.

DS was supposed to be born by elective caesar on Waitangi day 10 years ago but the obstetric surgeon remembered on the 4th that it was a public holiday and he was supposed to be playing in a charity golf tournament, so DS was born on the 5th! I got heaps of visitors the next day due to it being a public holiday (and fascination as to what a massive premmie baby looked like).

Happy Waitangi day for yesterday.

My all time favourite song - the video was filmed near where I grew up.
