We are off to Perth (from Sydney) in May for a wedding for about 10 days. I refuse to take our car seats with us as they are a pain to get in and out so we are planning to hire some with a rental car. I just rang one company who quoted $9.90 per seat per day. DD will be 4 and DS 2 when we go but DD is quite petite so not in a booster just yet.
Anyone who has done this got any particular car rental company recommendations or tips?
Thanks! original.gif

I've hired a car through Thrifty twice as I'm an RACV member I get a free child car restraint through them. If you have a membership with the NSW equivalent look into whether you get a free seat too. I found that in Gold Coast the seat was probably the cheapest one they could buy and I wasn't overly happy with it but in Cairns the seat was a better design so the types of seats obviously vary between different pick up points.

It is pretty hit and miss with what seats they will provide. I would take my own so you are certain of your kids safety. perhaps for the 4yo, just whilst on holidays you could use the new Infa Vario Traveller folding booster. Its light and untehered and fab for travelling. We just took ours interstate for my 4 yo, and it worked fine. Airlines do not charge extra to carry your seats either.

There was a very recent thread on here about the folding booster too.....just search back. (in the CAR RESTRAINTS section)

We recently hired a car with Thrifty. As we are NRMA members the booster seat was free and the excess was halved. I think Thrifty is owned by NRMA? I booked it online and from memory you just select the type of seat you want, they don't ask for the child's age so you should be able to just book 2 car seats.

Last hire car place i went through was Hertz. I got the car hire quote online then called them and spoke about the carseats. They let me have it free. The seat was a fine. I have no complaints.
