I'm always the type that never seems to fit in much cooking - I'll cook, but it's always eggs on toast, steak and salad, or some convenience jar and a bag of pre-cut veg, never anything elaborate cooked from scratch. I read a thread recently where people were talking about how they cooked everything from scratch and it inspired me!

So today I've made a chicken, chickpea and spinach curry, all from scratch, including the madras curry paste, I'm so proud of myself! It's bubbling away on the stove, baby's happy in the bouncer chewing on a rusk and laughing while I dance stupidly to some cheesy music.

I should do this more often

Good for you, it sounds like you're having fun. If you're not used to cooking from scratch it can seem daunting but, once you get used to it, it's easy enough.

Before living out of home I had no idea of cooking from scratch as mum was very mea & 3 veg or frozen packet food. Meat pies & sausage rolls were Thursday night, I still remember
Anyway, I have gotten into cooking from scratch over the last 10 years and really enjoy it. I'm trying to pass what I've learnt on to my kids so they will know it as 'normal'.
