We used to stay at home but now we have a social life ..
I'd like to cook more stir fries and rice dishes, but so many of them use soy sauce, which triggers migraines for me pretty easily. Is there a substitute I can use?

TIA.

I can't have soy as I am intolerant so I use fish sauce. Not exactly the same but if you do t mind a tiny fish aftertaste it's not to bad. Someone on here once suggested a coconut protein. I can't remember the name and have never tried it but a google may bring up some results.

Have you tried Tamari? It's very similar, a wheat-free version. Worth a try if you haven't already.

I second Tamari. I luuurve my soy sauce, but tamari is a palatable alternative. Oyster sauce is lovely, but too strong to be a good substitute, and too thick. You don't need to use soy sauce though...if you google, you will find many lovely recipes that don't require it. Make use of good oils, and lots of flavourings, and add liquid with things like shao hsing wine.

It is the salt? The amount of salt in regular soy sauce gives me a headache. Salt reduced ones are better.

I choose Fish Sauce over Soy 99/100 times as I prefer the flavour.

I very rarely ever use soy in a stir fry.

If it is the salt that causes your problem - just use stock, or lime juice..... liquids in a stir fry are just about the steam they produce (and sometimes the saltiness).
