Have you ever watched a show everyone *raves* about it and just....didn't get it.

For me I think it's Arrested Development. I find it amusing, but almost a full season in and I don't think I've laughed out loud more than three times. I can see it's well written, but it leaves me cold.

Big Bang Theory!

I am conflicted because I get it but it does absolutely zero for me. I know I am the black sheep in my family for feeling this way. original.gif

Never forget who you are, little star
Yes I find that with a LOT of American programs I just cant get into them.

Boston Legal, West Wing, House, CSI anything, The Mentalist, etc etc etc

Also most of the reality TV genre have passed me by - Big Brother, any of the cooking programs that came after Jamie Oliver. Home building/renovation programs I can watch.

Come to think of it, I generally don't watch much that isn't on ABC or SBS with the current exception of Downton Abbey.

Well after last year's logies a friend and I were discussing how between the two of us we had managed to watch one of the winning shows.

Just one. (And I had actually watched 0)

So I'm guessing - most!

People are always surprised I don't watch all those 'My kitchen master chef rules' things as I am so obsessive about cooking.

I would rather poke pins in my eyes.

Really.

Nothing with 'fake tension' or overly drawn out drama.... *makes spitting noise* I like FOOD! Not reality TV.

agree
I'm not into any of the Masterchef shows, the Block, the Lounge Room (is that what it's called?)

I do like Arrested Development. For me it's the kind of show I can just drop in on and whatever crazy is happening at the time I can find amusing. Don't need to follow the whole series

Arrested Development.... Poker in my eyes. I'm a sarcastic person. I like irony and black humour. I still don't like this show.

The Mentalist. Just don't get it at all.

Downton Abbey..... Ugh.

Anything reality but ESPECIALLY Big Brother and Survivor.

Actually, scrap that.... I find Here Comes Honey Boo Boo hilarious in a very wrong sort of a way. Like a train wreck really.

Private Practice is another one. I have friends who rave about it. Can't see it personally.

Big Bang Theory and Modern Family are two of the best American sitcoms in years. I'm also a huge Wilfred fan and for once the American series is actually funnier than the original.

The Big Bang Theory. I just stand there with a deadpan face wondering why anyone would laugh at such contrived, obvious OTT humour.

The Mentalist

And most of all.......The Simpsons.

Oh just thought of another one, how could I forget, it is my most HATED show on TV....

FUNNIEST HOME VIDEOS.

Not funny. At all. One little bit.

Anything that could be classed "reality television" ... Never watched any of the big brothers, never watched master chef, so you think you can dance, Australian funniest home videos.....I don't want to watch real people, in every day situations, If I am watching TV I either want to be informed (news) or entertained...and for me this is watching skilled actors acting out a good story....

Eta...the West Wing is TV drama at its best..brilliant dialogue, brilliant acting, brilliant story line. The Newsroom is also very good. Two and a Half Men is woeful, and I find it very difficult to like or respect anyone who likes that show!
