Currently shadow is trying to convince me he wants more food... which is a big bunch of phooey seeing he has a bowl of dry there and had wet food this morning...

but how much should he be eating? he is just a standard house cat, about 5 yrs old...

atm he always has access to dry food, plus he gets one of those small cat food serves morning and night, sometimes he eats it all, other times not.

We have a Burmese and a Maine Coon, both about 7 years old. They free feed on kibble throughout the day, and get a small foil tub of Dine each for breakfast.
We try and make sure they always have dry food available because if the bowl is empty, the Maine Coon carries on like the end is nigh.
Sometimes she carries on anyway, so I take the bag of kibble, shake it near the bowl and she thinks she's got more in there so she shuts up.

My just get access to dry food only all day. (Hills science diet).

Occasionally if we make a roast or something theyll get some of that too, but thats about once a month.

I don't give mine wet food - they don't need it and it just makes for stinky poo.

They have kibble to free feed on all day...then once a week or so they get tuna (which they go MAD for). We also eat a lot of chicken, so I give them all the offcuts when I'm cooking it and occasionally, they get some mince.

They still try to make me believe they are starving. It's a cat thing.

the quickest way to offend shadow is to open a tin of tuna and eat it yourself!

Mine get dry food in the morning and half a small tin each of chicken, salmon or tuna plus more dry food in the evening.

If I left kibble out all day they would stuff themselves until they threw up! They clean their plates at every meal.

I discovered the Cachet brand (NOT the Silvesters) of small tins from Aldi are really good value at 69c and don't smell or look like revolting tins or pouches of whiskas either.
