Hi all,
My DD (5.5 years) has gorgeous curls in her hair. Not super tight curls, but enough to make me want to tear my own hair out when dealing with it. It always seems to be tangled and looks dull instead of shiny. Can you give me any recommendations on shampoos, conditioners, styling products, hairbrushes, any other tips (how often to wash, how to brush it easily etc.) on how to deal with it? She is not the most patient of children (what 5 year old is!) so it needs to be fairly low maintenance. Thanks |

buy a tangle teaser, so much easier than a normal brush. and water, i hate having to brush DDs hair dry, it makes the job so much worse.
Shampoo, we have a habit of using whatever i'm using, with whatever conditioner, and if i'm looking to add shine i use a nourishing oil |

Combs for curls, not brushes.
Spray on conditioner while wet and brush out. Then hand scrunch to reshape. |

DD2 is a curlytop. We just wash her hair as normal, comb straight after towel-drying, and it usually curls up into neat, non-frizzy curls that way. We don't brush it - using a brush turns it into a puffball.
We'll probably try serums and so on later, but she's three, so no hurry. And if all else fails, curly plaits look adorable. |

DD2 has gorgeous curls. I usually wash her hair with whatever is there and condition the ends, I can get away with washing her hair once a week unlike her sisters who need it doing every other day.
I tried a tangle teaser on her hair and she screams, i have found the best thing to do is spray her hair with water, work a blob of 'static free fm frizz maintenance programme smooth operator' into her hair then using a wide tooth comb i brush from bottom to top working any knots out. Her hair is always shiny and smells lovely |

DD has tight curls. Don't shampoo too often, makes the hair drier which leads to frizz and tangles. Use a leave-in conditioner straight after the shower on wet hair and brush out the tangles. Only comb/brush hair when wet and with conditioner.
Also better to put the hair up at night so it doesn't get tangled while she sleeps. Either in a plait or ponytail. |

Wet and comb. Wash once a week, unless
Swimming etc. I use MooGoo conditioner and don't rinse it thoroughly, I'll also use it as a leave in if tangly. |

Detangling comb and argan oil is what I use for curly hair. Using a brush is a big no no for curls. Type of shampoo never really made a noticeable difference for me.
My SIL who has tight ringlets swears by the Johnsons No More Tangles range but I have a nasty reaction to something in it so it isn't allowed in my house. |

My 3 year old has ringlets (well, so do I, but I have a straightener!) and the Johnsons no more tangles has worked wonders here. Also agree with combing while wet, and before bed as well as the morning.
