Hi,
Is it too much to ask for a day care centre which is nuturing, caring and peaceful? Where they serve wholesome nutritious food, instead of processed bulk crap?Where they play interesting, great music instead of blaring top 100 pop? Where the staff are well qualified and ppassionate about teaching and nuturing the children? Perhaps I am asking for a Utopia, but is it so bad to wish the best for our children who are in these places for the bulk of their awake time? I would love to hear feedback if you have found great places. And I acknowledge that the ones we have seen may not be representative of all child care centres.... |

Ours was great & not as you have described, apart from the music, the music they used was mainly stuff like wiggles but when you went to the preschool age room they also played pop type stuff like some child friendly abba, village people etc, not my style at all but did not have a problem with it.
I do understand your pain, seriously for every 20 centres we saw only one would be suitable in our opinion yet even the crap ones had huge waiting lists. |

My DS is at exactly the utopia you describe.
It is in the Inner West of Sydney if you are anywhere near there I am happy to PM you. I am sure there are many, it takes a lot of searching though. When I was looking I found it really distressing, some were just so awful I wanted to cry. |

Sorry OP, sounds like I'm in the same position as you. It's utterly depressing and the primary reason I am not working full-time.

Sorry to hear your day care isn't what you'd hope. And I don't think your expectations are too high - sounds perfectly reasonable to me.
DH goes to a community not-for-profit childcare and it's pretty good. Fresh nice food (tha the staff also eat for lunch), nice staff etc. Maybe see if there are any in your area? Good luck and as pp said keep looking although I know it can be really hard trying to find available spots depending where you are. |

I love our daycare. three to one ratio in the babies' room, five to one in the toddlers' room, cook on premises, babies and children cuddled to sleep gently, everyone greeted by name as they arrive, carers who really know the kids. Sydney CBD, impossible to get into, $126/day.

Those people who have good places in Sydney CBD or Inner west, I would love to know the names of them, if possible.
