Just wondering if anyone knows what sort of reporting should be done by daycare centres? My child went to a brand new centre for 7 months and at the end of the year we received no feedback at all, no portfolio. Do centre's have to give formal feedback to parents or is it an individual choice. Also I asked the centre if i could see the reporting that has been done on my child and no information has been forthcoming. As a parent I can legally ask to see the information they are storing about my child can't I? Don't want to push too hard because I understand they are a new facility but to have my child there for 7 months and no feedback seems a little strange (Or lazy)

We receive a portfolio at the end of each year. A folder is kept on each child and added to throughout the year. So technically, yes I could get all the feedback for 7 months if I wanted to. Also my centre runs "parent teacher" twice a year to set goals and see how your child is going. They are voluntary obviously.
Our centre has always received the highest mark possible in all categories of accreditation since we have been there (6 years) Its a really good centre. This post has been edited by liveworkplay: 12/02/2013, 05:04 PM |

They should have given you something at the end of the year at the very least.
And a child's portfolio should be available to you at any time, if you wish to view it throughout the year. It may not always be up to date. But that's okay, as long as it exists and tehy allow you to see it. |
