Hi
DH has a golf tournament two weekends in a row for both Saturday and Sunday in March so I have decided to take the children and myself to Melbourne for 10 days to see some family and friends. I think I have narrowed our stay down to either the Westin or the Langham. I want to be in the city and walk so I can save $ on hiring a car. We normally stay in an apartment but as it's just the children and myself I think I would feel more comfortable in a hotel. I am open to suggestions on other places (4*-5*) or opinions on these please. Thanks C ETA: both are similar prices This post has been edited by carls888: 13/02/2013, 03:03 PM |

DH and I stayed at the Langham in Jan. We loved it, but we had left the kids with their grandparents. We both commented that it wasn't really child friendly. I wouldn't take my kids who are 3 & 1.

Luck you!
What about Crown towers? I have done some private nannying there and it's pretty nice! The pool is amazing! Not sure of price difference to Westin though. I agree the Langham seems a little more couple friendly. We stayed without kids a few years ago. Hope you have a great visit! Bron |

Loved the Westin.
I too would suggest Crown for the Poolwith the kids. Have not stayed Langham. Sofitel at the Top of Collins is lovely and has great views. |

10 days?
I would definitely get an apartment. More space, kitchen facilities, people can visit you... |

The Seasons Botanical in StKilda rd. opposite the shrine, gardens etc Quick tram ride into the city. Apartments with kitchen etc Pool & gym.
Medina Executive (has changed its name recently) on Flinders (88 I think). Apartments, iga just downstairs. Short walk to mcg/rid laver, fed square. No pool though. HTH |

Staying with kids, I'd choose the Langham over the Westin by a mile.
I have stayed at the Langham with my 2 kids a couple of times now and the staff are fantastic with them and are very accommodating. They certainly make my girls feel like welcome guests in their own right. I second the PP recommendation for Crown Towers as well. |

| Three, it's a magic number. Yes it is. | |

Personally don't like the Langham in terms of decor, pool area is worn out and ugly. Not a fan of Southbank.

Another one here for Crown Towers. I like South bank with kids. There are always people about & it feels safer.
I like the fact that you can walk along the riverbank or inside if you prefer. Have a lovely holiday. XxxAmethyst |
