Hello,
My first child is due to start school next year. I have an appointment with the principal of a local private anglican school on Monday to see what the school is like. I am actually leaning towards one of the public schools in the area, but I want to check them all out to be thorough. The grounds and resources at the private school are lovely, but I have heard some less than flattering things about The actual schooling. What sort of questions do you ask of a potential school? I am all new to this and unsure what I want to ask exactly. Thank you for taking the time to read this! Maddie |

I'd ask:
* What the class sizes are * How many grades * What is the make up the grades (ie are they composite or straight grades, and how many) * What the specialists are (ie languages, art, library) * What are the additional costs outside of the fees (ie uniform excursions) * What is the after school care program if they have one * What component if any of religious they teach This post has been edited by Katakacpk: 14/02/2013, 11:56 AM |

What kind of programs/assistance they offer for both those students who are struggling plus those that need extension work or are gifted.

I would go on a tour of the school and see how happy the staff and students are. I would ask questions of parents/children currently at the school rather than the principal.
