So this is a face pic of me. Sorry for it being sideways, no idea why or how it happened. Anyway, I have three moles, one next to my nose, one near the tip, and one near the bridge. They annoy me to no end. Have you had anything similar removed from your face without the scar being worse? Is it possible to get them removed without having private health? No idea if there is waiting lists or not for this type of thing. We have a health care card. Thanks original.gif

ETA: ok.. It didn't end up sideways lol

I'm interested in replies for this as well. I have moles on my face probably around 10 of them which are much larger than the ones you have! My DH calls one a coco pop, as that's what it looks like.

Would love info on scarring, cost etc.. Mainly scarring as its on your face.

I would only see a plastic surgeon and that is expensive, with or without PHI. They will usually charge a gap.
You could just have the initial consultation and decide from there.

I've recently had 3 lasered off, and it was great. Got a referral from my GP to a specialist laser clinic. Cost $750, you do get some back but I have got around to claiming yet. Would definitely recommend it, don't know why I didn't do it sooner!! Each mole bled/weeped for a few days and then all good.

I once got a quote for a plastic surgeon to remove similar moles (I have some on my back and neck). They required a dr to check them first (to make sure they are not bad) and then they can remove them (it got cheaper per mole the more you got done). I can't remember the price, but I think it was going to cost about $400 to get about 6 done if I remember correctly.

Edit: reading the other prices, my memory might be quite bad about how much it cost.

I scar badly so I've mainly left mine. My GP wanted one in the same spot as the one beside your nose removed as it was dark and suspicious looking and suggested I get a plastic surgeon to do it. I'm glad I had private health as it involved an initial consultation, medicare paid a portion of this, then what they considered day surgery at a private hospital - although it was a case of sit in the waiting room, get walked to theatre, have it done under local, then sit and wait for half an hour in another room until they cleared me to leave. I hate to think what the cost for the theatre time would have been without private health. The follow up appt was covered under the surgery cost. They did pathology on the mole too and there was a gap for that fee too.

I have a small line scar, it certainly is a better job than moles I've had removed on my back and legs. He made the line go in line with my nose so it's barely visible.

I recently had some removed by a plastic surgeon. He just lightly sliced them off at skin level. There is a very slight chance they will grow back, but it was such a simple procedure, Im not that fissd if it doesnt work permanently.

I had one on my forehead - I was referred to a Dermatologist by the GP. It was a 6 month wait to get in. I was not happy waiting as it was changing so I went to Molescan. I got in within a week - they checked my whole body for other moles - some I was concerned with /others no so much.

But the one I was really worried about they photographed it, sliced it at skin level, it need abit of catuerising as it bled a tiny bit ( i didn't notice), covered it - was told to keep the area clean and dry for a few days. There was a tiny scab that fell off - and they sent it to the lab for testing. The call back was that it was nothing to worry about and now you can't tell where it was.

It cost $85 - you get some back but as mine is set up to electronically go into my bank account I don't know how much.

I have moles on my back that I'd like removed one day mainly due to skin cancer risk
but haven't had it done due to cost. Molescan is over $300 and not claimable on Medicare or my PHI plan.

But I wouldn't remove yours, I honestly think you're gorgeous and they are barely noticeable. I had to look at the photo very closely to even see them.
