Not that I live in that state but there is an emergency warning for this area which looks eastern to me. Is this near you?

Edited to remove information as their are two emergency warnings close to Melbourne at the moment.

Which particular fire out of the 280 across the state is causing the smoke across the eastern suburbs? Are you serious? Either get on the CFA or DSE websites or "like" the CFA on facebook to get updates.

there is one in Marysville 15km West.

There is also one North in Donnybrook. The Epping/Fawkner etc is all on alert. Not sure if the wind would be blowing one either accross to you or down to you depending how east you are

I'm in inner east Melbourne and my eyes are stinging from the smoke. My sister is in Craigieburn, it's right near her. Apparently they closed down the Hume Hwy because it's too close to the fire.

swimming in a sea of chocolate! :)
If you have a smart phone, I highly recommend downloading the free app - CFA fire ready.

It maps your location and sends you automatic updates if there is anything in your area. You can also check out the map for updates or information at any time.

Where is the fire? Everywhere!! There has been a constant smoke haze over Melbourne for weeks now.

This page offers a pretty good overview of the fires: http://incidentalert.com.au/iav4/veMapv2.asp#close
