How do you pronounce nee, as in Samantha Jones nee Smith?

Not entirely sure, but I know how to pronounce pronunciation original.gif

I would say nee as KNEE but I have heard it pronounced NAY. The first one sounds right to me, but I could be wrong.

Really? I have been pronouncing it as "nay" ... oh dear ... have I been mispronouncing it all these years?

All my years of French and I remember this as NAY being a derivative of the word naitre (meaning birth).

Definitely not "knee"!

"Nay" is closer, but you don't say the second half of the diphthong.
