Hi everyone,

Does anyone know much about Mothercare Australia going into Administration? I have just under $150 of vouchers i recieved less than 4weeks ago as baby gift for my newborn and went to redeem them yesterday and i was told i couldnt sad.gif

Anyone else in the same position? Anyone know if i can get my money back? Well not my money but the money value of the cards?

I have emailed the administrators, fingers crossed.

Just curious what others have done if you are in this situation.

Cheers.

spottydog.

Yep, went into administration last week I think. Someone, a bank I think, was saying to contact them if you had vouchers. Argh, come on brain, who was it? Westpac maybe, or NAB. I will see if I can track back to where I read that for you OP.

Legally, you are an unsecured creditor, so you can get a partial refund after the secured creditors are paid out. Most administrators put up a system where you can redeem them with a co-payment, eg you can use them for half or a quarter of the value.

You have done the right thing by contacting the administrators, they should let you know if they put something in place or if you have to wait until the company is sold or liquidated.

I heard about this last week, they also won't let you earn points on the loyalty cards either at mothercare or ELC/kids station.

I bought a toy that was faulty and they would only offer me exchange not a refund because of te company going into administration..

Any chance that the person who gave them to you used a credit card to buy them? If so they may be able to get a refund via their bank.

They went into administration on January 31st 2013.

At this stage it looks like most of the stores will close down asap.. You'll start to see stores close in the next 3 months.

You will be given a chance to redeem part of your gift cards but not all the credit.

Ex: Spend $150 use $75 gift card & pay the remaining.

The retail world is in a world of hurt right now.. Mothercare is just the start of the stores you'll see close this year..
Look how many we lost last year...
