So my DD5.5 has always been a sweaty kid, put her to bed and she is one of those kids who gets a sweaty head etc. She has just started FYOS and I have noticed she is starting to smell a little under the armpits - no problem I thought, she is running around heaps, always been a sweaty kid - best ensure she bathes EVERY night.

I mentioned it to the pharmacist today when I was picking something up, she has now completely freaked me out - told me I should take DD to the GP - could be something serious going on - BO shouldn't start until puberty etc. So I will take her to the GP just to be sure - but in the meantime while I am sitting here worrying myself silly - does anyone else's little one get stinky armpits after a day of kid stuff???.

Our DD has had pongy pits off and on since ahe was around 8? She's 12 now.

It seemed to be worse the day after a garlicky meal and if she wore some tops that weren't cotton. We just ensured she washed herself really well at night and did a wipe of her pits again in the morning before getting dressed.

We even looked into some of those natural mineral deoderant at one point, but waited until she was 10 before getting her some of the teen sprays.

Now she's a bit older if seems to have lessened.

It wouldn't hurt to ask your GP when you see them again.

Dont completely freak out. Not saying that you shouldnt take her to the GP either,just that when puberty starts it can start from that age. It doesnt happen all in a rush though (generally) so the smelly pits can be on and off, same as budding - they might start and then nothing for 12mths.

However, read up on precocious puberty - not to freak yourself out, but to be informed.

I also agree with CG. Look at her diet and clothing and hair length.

lol @ myself. That does look odd written like that.

Just meaning that sometimes long hair, especially if she has thick hair can be really sweat inducing in kids. I know DS is a sweaty kid and in summer he gets a #2 just because its cooler.

My 5 year old daughter gets whiffy, i've recently bought her an aluminium free roll on deoderant to help. I dont want her to be remembered as the stinky kid! She is a sweaty kid, always has been and has no other signs of puberty happening. I have not taken her to the doctor as I am not concerned. I just wanted to let you know I have one too! . Goodluck
