So I've got a dark cranberry/maroon colour couch, similar to this:

Maroon's one of those colours that can look dated quite easily, so I'd be going for a grey/black/white geometric print to keep it all modern and fresh. Maybe a hint of pale blue.

Hm. Maybe caramel browny and cranberry purpley stripe? Or something contrasty? Did you want a solid colour or are you ok with patterns?
ETA ooh I agree black and white geometric sounds good. This post has been edited by ninadf: 27/02/2013, 10:25 PM |

Tell me about it, the lounge is quite a few years old (Freedom brand) but I'm over it. Can't wait for the day I can get a nice new neutral coloured couch. I was thinking grey too. |

QUOTE Something to match that greenish stripe in your rug? ???? I don't have a rug, but could do with one. My house is an like a modern weatherboard, kinda modern country so not sure if geometrics would suit the style. |

Depends on your overall interior I think. I love the idea of black, white and grey - then you can play with patterns. Very now. But if that doesn't match the rest of your style it would look a little strange.
But you could also play with the richness of the colour and take it in a middle-eastern theme - lots of colours, all the same kind of richness and deepness. Try something like colourschemedesigner.com if you're not confident with picking colour schemes. Or even look for a rug or fabric or painting that you love that also has the colour of your couch and other colours that you could use as a colour guide. Do you have any other items in the room or your house that you can draw inspiration from? Paint companies usually have some good colour inspiration too. |

Oh I forgot to mention it looks like a colour you would find in nature, so you could use greens and brown/beige - colours you would find together in nature generally look good. But it may end up a bit christmas.

I like to contrast colours so I'd probably look for a mix of green (and probably a vibrant one at that: lime, apple, pea etc.) and stone to tie in with the colour scheme you have.

turquoise (for contrast)
and if you wanted another colour, stone (to bring it back a bit) maybe in a texture or sheen? ETA if you type possible colour combos into google images it will give you an idea of how they could work (or not!!) This post has been edited by jezebeljoygirl: 27/02/2013, 11:12 PM |
