My two DD's are 7 and 10. Our night time routine has been slack since the holidays and it's causing issues with all of us. I need to get it back in order but DD 10 thinks her bedtime is unreasonable so I'd like some opinions.
So far our routine is: 4:15 arrive off bus, unpack lunch box, afternoon tea etc with DH 5pm - I arrive home but on mondays and thursdays we have dancing so we aren't home until 6:30pm 6pm dinner or 6:30pm dinner on mon and thurs 5:30 homework on non dancing days 6:30 / 6:45 shower 8:00 bed and can read books till 8:30. Would love some input on others routines. |

3.30 - home from school, have afternoon tea and stuff around
5.00 - Homework/reader, then tv or more play 6pm - tea, followed by bath/shower, quiet play. 7.30 - 10mo and 4yo have bedtime story, teeth brushed and bed. 11yo and 8yo have supper and we watch some tv or play cards. 8.30 - 11yo and 8yo teeth and bed. They can read for 10 mins before turning their lamps off. |

This has been pretty much our routine for our 7 & 10 year old too.
However since the holidays our 10 year old has pushed it back to bed at 830pm & read until 9pm. It has been working ok. |

Sounds pretty good to me. I also have a 10 y/o (plus 2 other children) and our routine is as follows:
4pm - Get off bus at Grandparents (I work). Have afternoon and do homework pretty much straight away. 5:10pm - I pick the children up from Grandparents. 5:30pm - Arrive home at our place and have baths. 6-6:30pm - Have dinner which usually takes until 7/7:30pm Following dinner they will watch TV or play on their iPads/laptops. 8pm - Bed for 10 year old with reading time in bed. It use to be lights out at 8:30pm prior to Christmas but now that we've gone back to School and his older DD started high school (and we give her a slightly later bedtime) its now lights out at 9pm. My almost 13 y/o goes to bed at 8:30pm and reads but has lights out at 9pm as well as her brother. Our youngest DD is 4 and she goes to bed at 8pm as well but she has a 2 hour day sleep still. |
