Please don't ask me to google it!
I ask this because I just got home from shopping and this happened while I was out.

DD is 15months old and loves her sippy cup with water. It is attached to her hand from morning to night. While out shopping, I realised I forgot to fill it up before I left, so we went to the parents room and filled up the cup with water. Another mum was there with her two children and remarked about me filling up DD's cup with 'public bathroom water'. I honestly did not know what to say. She then went on and told me if her DD ever needed a cup of water, she would buy a bottle from the shops, and NEVER come to a public restroom to do what I just did. I couldn't get out of there quick enough.

But now I am thinking...is that wrong? Is tap water from the parents room disgusting? Or am I just too stingee (sp?) to spend $2 on water? FYI, I always fill up DD's cup at home with water straight from the tap as is.. huh.gif

My DD has consumed far worse things then bathroom water....bark, bugs, moth wings....surely this cant hurt?

We are all unique - until someone tells us we're different
Hi

There was a piece on drinking water on that show "What's good for you" earlier this week. Drinking water from a tap (excl QLD, as they don't have flouride (sp) in it) does have an amount of copper and lead from the pipes, but does have the flouride. Bottled water does have a little flouride, but the one that came up best on their findings was water that was filtered through a water filter such as a Britta water jug or something similar.

I personally don't think there would be anything wrong with the tap water, DS has had it before and I'm sure he'll have it again.

Can't believe my baby girl is 1!
Water is water, it won't hurt her. How many of us drank from the hose or outside tap when we were kids? My dd drinks bath water and I am sure there must be the odd kid who has had a sip from the toilet bowl. We all survive. biggrin.gif

Hmmmmm how is her judging you on tap water different from others judging on rollups/chips etc.
Judging others is judging others no matter what it is.
Glass houses and all that. tongue.gif

FWIW I think tap water is fine - but if if SHE was the OP I bet the responses might differ.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his nee
It's tap water ***! There are some odd people out there. wacko.gif

DS drinks tap water - the tap water in Canberra is fabulous and at least as good as what I grew up drinking in Scotland.

Hmm, I wonder what she'd think of my childhood habits - I used to drink directly from the source on the hills behind our house. One foot either side, bend down, scoop up spring water and drink. Gorgeous! biggrin.gif

WOW I am the odd one out here!

There is no way I would fill my babies cup with water from a public tap.

I would spend the $2 and buy a bottle of water... (you could get three bottles for the price of a happy meal tongue.gif )

I actually saw a women do this the other day and had this conversation with both my husband and mum and they both agreed with me.

Personally I wouldn't use a tap that people had touched after using the toilet. huh.gif

Call me a nutcase, odd, strange, moron, blah blah, blah...

In fact at home I boil our drinking water or purchase bottled water. For me the fact that our local dam is so low and the extreme age of the pipes in our area I think it's best to be safe then sorry.

We are all different....
