I bought a swaddlebees pocket nappy with snaps yesterday, but didn't realise that it worked best with the swaddlebees inserts.

Until I get some, is it ok to use as a cover? Would I have to wash it every time?

I think it'd be fine to use as a cover IF....

DS is not leaking out of his fitteds and on to the swaddlebee therefore making it unsoiled so to speak.

An airing out of the Swaddlebee if not soiled, through the day would be good, if you can use something else or nothing over his fitted every now and again at home until you can get more. HTH's

i love Swaddlebees too, so nice and trim, really suit shapely legs too!

When my swaddlebees inserts are on the clothes horse, i substitute the inserts with:
- skinny long booster from baby beehinds bamboo
and
- microfibre car cleaning cloth folded in three like a pad
(microfibre closest to inner, bamboo closest to outer of SB)

or

trim bamboo trifold (two layers)

this works for us.

SB are TRIMMER in the crotch than many nappies, which is why the SB inserts are great, but if you use absorbent fabric that can be folded to suit the narrow pocket cavity, that is fine until your SB inserts dry.

I've got a heap of swaddlebees and I don't use any swaddlebee inserts cos I already had other things I could use. I've used a half flanny flat folded in half then in thirds with a microfibre cleaning cloth (before dd was a monster wetter), a bamboo trifold approx 30cm x 7.5cm when folded, a 60 x 60cm microfibre flat pad folded with a bamboo mini booster, hemp trifold 30cm x 7.5 when folded with a microfibre cleaning cloth.

Have you got any other boosters or bits and pieces lying around that you can try in them? You could possibly get away with trifolding 2 or 3 of the microfibre cleaning cloths together?

I've got MandyMac inserts, do you reckon they'd be okay? Also have an old microfibre cleaning cloth that could be put to better use...

I have some hemp fleece in the black hole that is our spare room, if/when I find that I could just over lock the edges and make boosters that way.

Narelle, that would be lovely, might make a good template for making my own - will PM you

I'm sure Mandy Mac inserts would work fine, as would the microfibre inserts... they are great and thick and thirsty...
