I have finally come up with an idea to start a home business. What are the steps that I need to do? basic steps if possible please

Congrats on wanting to start your own business.

Some basic steps to start with would be to write a business plan, decide how you will operate (web or physical site), decide your structure, decide on a name and check that it is available, register an ABN.

However, I can't stress enough, whatever your chosen field, first and foremost - make sure you do your Research! eg... Your product, your competitors, suppliers, marketing, Costs, anything to do with starting a business etc.

My husband and i are just our 2nd small business in 12 mths so i know how daunting it can be.
I agree that writing a business plan is essential, it helps keep you on track & can be good to show other necessary parties eg banks, other relevant business parties etc.

I found 2 books very valuable
1. Small Business for Dummies
2. Starting your Business (a DK Book).

Dont get stuck on the fact its a "small" business, if you do the ground work thoroughly in the first instance it will not matter how much you grow as all the basics will be in place.

If it is an internet based business please feel free to PM me as i have learnt soooooo much about advertising etc on the net since we started.
