On the basis of many glowing recommendations here, I bought a couple of bamboo Sandman night nappies for my DS. They are fantastically absorbent but we are having escaping poo problems. Basically, it seems that no matter how tightly I do it up around the waist I can't seem to get a good grip around the leg and there seems to be some gaping which is where the poo escapes. It's the "right" size for him (size large which is 7-14kg, and he is almost 13kg) and he certainly isn't a skinny legged little thing!
I also can't find a cover big enough to fit over it which creates its own issues. I bought a stacinator wool cover which is pretty big but not really sufficient to cover the sandman.

DS does fairly copious poos in the morning but I've found them contained much better within a bamboo BBH with a bamboo booster wrapped around the outside and a cover over the top. I guess I bought the sandman because it saved the hassle of the outside booster but it doesn't seem to be working...

Anyone had this same problem / got any tips?

Hi, we use "sandmans" here too! They are super absorbant, but I think like most night nappies their main job is to catch super wee's - not poos's tongue.gif
I change DD first thing in the morning so she doesn't poo in hers!! Perhaps try that, as they usually reek by then anyways sick.gif
You DS is in the right size, so I wouldn't worry about that. DD is in large and 12kg.
Mother-Ease Airflow covers fit well over them!! And so do all our knitted shoties, longies and soakers.
Hope that helps a bit! Emma

Thanks - I also change DS first thing (agree re the stink! sick.gif ) but by then it is often too late as he tends to do a BIG poo first thing which is what wakes him up.... and I'm fed up with knowing that I'm going to have to wash pooey PJs almost everytime I use them.

I was wondering if a bit of leg gape was pretty common because there is so much bulk inside the nappy itself that it is hard to get a good fit around the leg (which is why I tended to boost my BBH on the outside of the nappy, just under the cover, when using them at night).

I suppose I had hoped they would be the magic night nappy that did everything but I am almost thinking of just going back to the BBH combo or even sposies to save on escaping poo...

i think bubblebubs do a night nappy cover which looks enormous, but designed for the bulky night nappy.

I havent tried it myself but what about the bear bottoms fleece covers? i think they make an extra large, someone else could give you an idea for sizing but as a fleece pull on they should contain really well and be super easy to wash and dry quickly.........

I have a baby beehinds large cover which fits over my large sandman... however mine is an older hemp one so i dont know if that would make a difference?

Oh and poo's always seem to escape my sandman but get caught at the cover biggrin.gif
