Hi,
I have a 17mth old dd and she really hates being in the cot now. When she is sleeping in her cot I hear her keep banging into the rails when she is tossing and turning. She has been waking up a bit more lately since she's been hitting herself on the rails. Would it be to early to introduce her into a single bed. She's has slept on our bed and she hasn't fallen off of it. I would of course have a safty rail up if she did have here own bed to prevent her falling.
What do u think?
Thanks

I've been wanting to ask the same question, so I have no advice, sorry, just curious to see what others say.
Perhaps thpugh, you could try her on a matress on the floor for a while till she gets used to it, then but the matress on a bed.
JUst my idea.

I have a 18month old DD and I put her into a big bed on the Anzac weekend for the first time, due to her also moving around heaps and bumping her head and she general didn't like the cot either. I have had no problems, At night time she general will just go to bed when she is ready at about 7.00ish (always been a good sleeper so that helps) and doesn't get out of bed until I go in and get her in the morning. I don't have a rail on the side but I have put a rolled up blanket under the side of the bed so it forces her to stay in the centre or towards the wall side of the bed. She has only fallen out once and that was at the very end of the bed so I now also but a pillow under the end of the mattres and that causes her to also stay in the centre of the bed.

So ye give it a try maybe making the bed up with her and letting them sleep in it for day sleeps and then go to night sleep. I close the door with DD and always have since birth so I don't have any problems with her coming out.

Hello there, my DD now 31/2 yrs was 2 when she was moved from the cot to a big bed. She loved her cot and never ever tried to climb out! We started her with day sleeps on the big bed with no problems. She has only ever fallen out of bed once when she first stopped wearing night nappies! We used to put a pillow under the mattress to discourage her from falling out but soon found that it was not needed. The transition from day to day and night sleeps only took about 3 weeks.
