Hi ladies,
I am not sure if this is the right place to post, but thought you may be able to help blush.gif It is my DDs 4th birthday on Saturday, and I am extremely unorganised! I am after some bunting flags in girly designs maybe about 5 or so metres to hang outside on the verandah. Just wondering if you could point me in the right direction as to where I could purchase something like this or if someone makes them......If anyone knows I would really grateful. Thanks original.gif

I've seen it before on ebay and etsy, but it's pretty expensive - I think around $50 for 5m. It wouldn't be too hard to sew yourself I don't think... but that's if you have the time!

It is quite easy to make your own if you can sew. I just made another batch for my daughters birthday party. If you would like some instructiosn just let me know.

But the pp is right, it is very expensive to buy fabric bunting, especially in longer lengths like 5m. You can sometimes get the plastic bunting at Spotlight/Spartys and it is much much cheaper. I havent seen it there for a while, but it may be worth a try.

I just checked on ebay and there is quite a few listings there atm, some with Buy It Now. They start at around $30.
The thing is most of them seem to have the flags quite spaced, which is fine for a party, but I do think bunting looks nicer when the falgs are closer together.
But it could be a good option for you, especially with Buy it now and express post so you get it in time.

Hi Adds,

There are two different types in those pics. One of them is spaced about 4cm apart and the other there is no space at all between the tops of the triangles, but when the bias is folded over it makes it look like about a 1cm gap. Honestly the closer the better I think, but I was in a hurry with the first lot so I did bigger spaces.

It is actually easier doing them closer though as you dont need to try and get the spacing even at all, just tuck it in the folded bias right up against the previous flag and keep on sewing!

Honestly Adds, it is not that much work as you would need to leave about half a metre of tie at each end anyway, so a 5m piece of binding would only need 4m of flags.

When I am making party bunting I also dont bother turning it out. I just cut the triangles out with pinking shears and sew them wrong sides together. It saves heaps of time.

If I am making nice indoor bedroom type decoration ones then I do them the other way and turn them out, press and topstitch them, but for outdoor party bunting I dont see the point. Plus I love the look of the pinked edges anyway.
