just keep walking
tossing up whether to go and rent / buy investment or stay in sydney

ned is 7 years and goes to a private school - they will keep his position open

i am used to paul going away (he is army) but it affects ned terribly

$$$ should be ok, my job is transferable (i can work from home) and paul will have money put aside for this

options
1. stay in sydney - ned misses dad as do i
dh will work for 6 days straight so no opp to come home
we will see him when we come down for our yearly school hol ski holiday

2. go to jindy (either buy for investment as we go to perisher every year or rent)
- i miss family and sis's new baby
- i miss friends
- ned misses friends
- probably have to get dogs minded unless we can get a property to take them

i'm just worried that i'm going to be really bored and eat myself stupid (i eat in stressful times)

i am also thinking of getting the school to send neds work so i can teach him at home - i moved schools as a child and it was very traumatic for me

we spoke to ned and after some thought he wants to go
(he loves skiing)

what do you think?
what would you do?

I dunno thats a hard one.....
I think in my situation we are a united front and if one goes we all do. Therefore if i didnt want to go then neither does DH.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

JMHO, I'd go to Jindabyne.

An opportunity comes knocking, you can only give it a try. You'll get to see DH everyday, do activites with him and time for son to see his Dad.

What can happen, you have a great time and although you miss your family, there's always the net for communication and other visits. Or you give it a go and come back to Sydney back to your old routine.

Good luck, hope you find an easy decision.

Always treat others the way u want to b treated
The only option for me would be to go. Purely because the other option of never seeing your hubby and your son not having his dad around would not be an option for me.
I would be hesitant in going, but i would have to somehow make it work.
I would rent first, while you have your time to see if this is what you want, and if you like it there, if it is working for everyone.

You may find it to be a wonderful opportunity for all of you.

Welcome Amelie! January 18, 2011.
I would give it a go. If it doesn't work out, then try something else. You'll never, never know, if you never, never go.

I'd go.

I'd get Seasons Passes for you and Ned and go skiing together when he's not in school. You can also go skiing during school hours - when you're skiing, you aren't eating, and you're getting great exercise.
You said you can still keep up your business, so that will keep you occupied some of the time.
There is heaps to do in and around Jindabyne, I'm sure you won't get bored.
It's not that far from Sydney. If you get lonely for friends or family, take a long week-end home.
Ned will love it - what a great experience to tell your friends about.
Your DH will be happy to have you there with him.
Ned will love being with both of you.

Enjoy it!

So what you would be there for 4 mths?? How long is the official ski season?

I would go.

You are close enough to Cooma for gyms and libraries and the rest.

As for your sons schooling, talk to the school about what would be best for him, whether it be home schooling or enrolling him in the local public school.

I don't think 4 to 6 mths is going to be that traumatic, it's an adventure
