I have decided to take DS and his friends to see a movie for his Bday. I am not planning on doing a party through the movie place though. It seems over priced to me $17 includes movie small popcorn small drink and a very very small bag of lollies.
I can get movie tickers for $8each .
My question is do you think it is OK if I just give each kids a lolly bag with some chips etc in it and a bottle of drink or should I be buying popcorn and drinks from the movies which would still work out cheaper than their party price.
Also do you think the movie is enough or should I be organising something for after.

There will be 12 kids in total ranging in ages from 7-11 do you think it is OK for me to take them by myself or do I need another adult there..

Hi, my DD1 (10yrs) went to a friends birthday party at the movies not long ago. But it was a bit different as there was only 6 of them plus the birthday girls big sister and friend and from start to finish it was for 4hrs.

They had some lunch before they left and her mum gave them a lolly bag with lollies, small chips and a pop top drink for the movies. (But some cinemas might not let you) Then when they got back to their place they played a few games and had the birthday cake.

I wouldn't do the cinema with that many kids on my own. My luck they would need to go to the toilet during the movie and I wouldn't want to let them just go on their own plus I wouldn't want to leave the others in the cinema on their own. (Well, not at 7yrs anyway.)

Make sure the movie is suitable as we had a movie playdate at our house and a couple of the mums asked what movie we were seeing?My son has been to "M" movies this being both Transformers movies but other parents may not approve of this so just something to bear in mind.

Som cinemas may also have game places next door so maybe you include a couple of tokens for this in with their lollybag.

Thanks for replies.
The movie is UP that we are planning to see and rated PG. I will also put blurb about movie on invite so parents will be able to read about it prior to making a decision.
The movie cinema definately allows you to take in food as long as it is not hot so I will be able to make up goody bags for the kids,.
I have managed to talk DH into coming with me so extra parent is now covered. He can also go in with DD and save seats for us.
Now I just need DS to stop trying to add names to the invite list, to be young and popular.
