HI,
I got a slow cooker for my birthday and want to use it for the 1st time to make a big batch of Spag Bol sauce. There is no recipe in the book I got with it and wondered if anyone had any tips for me. The slow cooker is a big one and all the recipes in the book call for 2-2.5kgs of meat. I was thinking of using 1.5kgs of mince and adding grated zucchini, carrot and chopped mushrooms. Anyone have a recipe or tips for me. How much tomato sauce/tinned tomato will I need? Thanks. |

Hi!
I always make my lasagne/spaghetti sauce in my SC. I never followed a recipe as such - this is what I do (I also have a big SC): 1kg mince 1 tin tomatoes 1 jar pasta sauce 1/2 jar basil pesto 2-3 Tablespoons tomato paste 1 diced onion 1 grated carrot 1 grated zuchini 1 clove garlic / 1tsp minced garlic dash of redwine I *think* that's all I put in there It is very important that you brown your mince on the stove first, so you can remove any fat. Once you have browned your mince (and drained the fat), throw in the Sc along with all other ingredients. Give it a good stir, pop the lid on and turn it on low for around 7-8 hours. Yum yum!! HTH!
