Dear Kane,

You were born at 6:10am today. Your tiny little body weighing only 295g and your length is 23cm long.
When I first saw you, you were wrapped in a bunny rug, being cuddled by your mum. You are so tiny in that bunny rug. Your mum gave you to me for a cuddle. The really nice midwife then took you and weighed and measured you, took your hand and foot prints. She even put little blue name tags around your ankles. The midwife then asked your mum if she would like you to be dressed. Your mum picked out an outfit for you - a nice pale blue nighty, a knitted hat and knitted booties. She was too sad to dress you though and said it was ok for me to dress you. It took me a little while to dress you - it wasn't easy getting your tiny arms into the sleeves. You seemed so fragile, I was frightened you would break even though I knew you would feel no pain.
We took photos of you, with your blue teddy bear. I held you and took you over to the window where I was able to speak to you privately.
I'll never forget you Kane. You are now a little angel and I know you'll be looked after.

Love your aunty Kath.

I am so sorry you lost your nephew.
How very hard it must be.

How nice for you to be able to share that time with him and support his mum through this pain of losing her son.

My thoughts are with you.

Kath,

Such beautiful words for such a special baby.

My heart aches for Kane and for his mum and dad at this terribly sad sad time.

I was in this exact position last year.

Big hugs

Dear Kath (Aunty Kath),

I too couldn't just read this and not reply.

I have never been in yours or Kane's Mummy and Daddy's position so I can't even begin to imagine what you all must be going through. It brought tears to my eyes and a huge lump in my throat reading your beautiful words.

I know nothing anyone can say will make it better, but please just know that I am thinking of you. I'm sure Kane is now resting peacefully, in the safe arms of angels and he will forever be watching over you all.

(((((Cuddles for Kane))))) and ((((hugs to all))))

Take care
