It takes 46 muscles to frown, but only 4 to flip'em the bird
My current place of employment has been sold and unfortunately I am out of a job. (it was a family business so it is good news for my parents) I am just curious as to what kind of government funding I am eligable for? My DP takes home around $560 per week which I didn't think was anything over the top however Centrelink told me I was eligable for $44 per fortnight. IS THAT ALL? I can't really go and find a job at the moment as my DD is 5 months old and my parents are planning on doing some travelling so there goes them looking after DD for the time being.

Does this figure seem right or am I missing something?

I am sure the dole pays more than this? I dont think I would go on this but out of curiosity are you able to do so being a SAHM?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I'd try and repost on the centrelink/tax questions sticky. I'm assuming they would look at total income for 2005/2006 financial year which means including what you have already earnt while working.

Family Benefit Part A's maximum is $117.60 and starts reducing if the SAH parent earns more than $4000 and something per year (look at centrelink for figure).

Family benefit Part B is on total combined income and cuts off totally just above $92 000. $44 (from memory) is the minimum amount.

You may also be able to get rent assitance if you're renting.

Definately look at centrelink sticky though as they should be able to help you much more. Also look at the centrelink web sitecentrelink

If you still need extra money is it possible to work in the evenings or weekend when your DP is home?

I dont believe you can get the dole if your spouse earns more than $500 a week, i am not 100% sure though this is what i remember when my husband wasnt working and went to see centrelink. It is hard especially when $500 barely covers mortgage and bills let alone food!!

Hope you get some more responses from the sticky thread.
