Proud Mummy
Hi all original.gif
Well, it occured to me that I may have a slight book fetish - particularly when it comes to books for my DD. I am an avid reader and my mother is known to have a bit of a book fetish - she is forever buying a new one...or five whenever she gets the chance. We have quite a large 'communal' library of fiction & non fiction books between us, however when organising DD's bookshelves today I realised that perhaps I may have gone slightly overboard - particularly as she is an only child thus far! WDYT? Can a child ever have too many books? As a teacher, books & reading are very important to me & in turn there is a clear focus on developing literacy skills in our household. I'm curious to see whether it is just me or there are others with the same "problem". Off to take some pictures now!

Mum to two boys!! :O
I have often wondered the same thing. blush.gif The answer is I don't believe so. As long as each book is valued, read as all ours are, then its all good. Both my kids love books.

I find buying children's books particularly satisfying because you read them over and over again and many of them are like works of art really. original.gif Book depository is my friend.

I'd take a picture but they're stored all over the house, some in the living room, some in the playroom, some in their bedrooms. original.gif

No!!!! That is not even possible. My DD is 8 and would own probably 300+ books. It was her birthday a month ago and she was ecstatic that she got 23 new books.

However not all the books are on the bookcase - Probably only about 100ish. The rest are in boxes in our store room, because I just don't have the shelf space to have them all out, or she has outgrown them, but wont part with them.

I am going against the grain here and say yes. We have hundreds of books but they get stale after being read several times. DD is always jumkping into the different book fads and we have spent thousands of dollars on books shes only read once. We now embrace the library original.gif

I used to think no but I may have changed my mind...
Also a teacher who loves literacy, reading, buying books etc.
My boys each have a 3 shelf bookcase in their rooms and they are both full. Plus the books that are stored elsewhere in the house.
So hard to part with any, but I recently sorted through some of the books they have outgrown and donated them.
Yet I still continue to buy more... Book fair coming up at school and I'm very excited!!

No such thing as too many books, but only too few shelves to find them easily :-)
