Id be very suss on that. I had a private number and yet it was still listed in the phone book and when I complained I only got rudeness and the attitude of "well what do you want us to do? Find everyone's phone books and blot your name and number out?" (yes they said that).

I'd be verifying that they are who they say they are before I did anything else.

As for what I would expect, firstly, reimbursment of the additional fee you pay for a private number and assurances that t would not happen again and an offer to change my current telephone number free of charge.

I had the same phone call. But I wasn't surprised as I had heard about it on the news several days ago.

A letter was addressed and sent to someone else and contained my name, telephone plan and silent number.

I am happy with nothing. The mailout was stopped as soon as they realised about the breach. My number was sent to one person, who probably completely disregarded the letter. The reason we have the silent number is due to my husband's profession and his name is not on the account or letter.
