Hi ladies,

If you are a Student Midwife who needs to ask for members to help finish their course requirements, you are welcome to post here.

Please ensure that you get members to PM you for further information (note that contact details will be removed for your own safety).
Make sure you place the state/town etc that you are in so that you only get members from your area.

Good luck.

~STUDENT MIDWIFE 2011-2014~
Thanks for the new thread Freckles original.gif

My name is Kirsty, I am a student midwife in Perth at Curtin University.

As a student midwife, we are required to share a Continuity of Care Experience (CCE) with 30 women over 3 years. This entails attending at least 2 antenatal appointments, the labour and birth (in at least half the CCEs) and 2 post-natal appointments.

So if you are less than 35 weeks pregnant, and you are willing to have a student midwife follow your pregnancy and birth, or even if you are just curious and have some questions, please send me a PM. I would love to meet you and talk to you more about the CCE program.

I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you and following with you through your pregnancy and birth!

Thanks
Kirsty

Student midwives in Melbourne (east/South east)

Thank you to all the lovely ladies who support Student midwives by allowing us to follow your pregnancies. I have now found all the required follow through journeys I needed. It has been a wonderful experience!

Midwife in the making
Hi everyone! Thanks for the new thread Freckles!

Well, I am about to embark on my final year of Bachelor of Midwifery at ACU Melbourne and need 5 women to help me get through it!! I am 36, have 3 children and am a long-term EBer. I have now attended many births and will be spending my final year doing placement in birth suite and Family Birth Centre at Mercy Hospital for Women, but I can go to any hospital!

I have had a great time with the Follow Through Journey which involves me being a part of your pregnancy, birth (optional) and beyond. It is great developing a rapport with women during their pregnancy and getting to know their dreams and fears. I find it helps to know all this when the birth comes around as I can advocate for you to hopefully achieve the birth you want. I have worked with families from all walks of life and this is one thing I love about this profession.

So, if you are due prior to December 2011 (which at the time of writing would be everyone!) and would like the support of a final year student throughout your pregnancy, please PM me. Minimum requirements is that I attend 2 antenatal appointments and catch up with you twice postnatally, but the rest is up to you.

I am located in Greensborough, Melbourne. I am willing to travel.

Please PM me if you or anyone else you know may be interested and I can provide more details on the program.

And most of all, good luck with your pregnancy!!!

Thanks for the new thread freckles original.gif

My name is Kim and I am currently going into my 3rd and final year as a student midwife at Flinders University! I am still looking for lovely pregnant ladies to support throughout their pregnancies, birth and beyond.

I am a firm believer in women-centred care and empowering women to find that inner strength and confidence during their birthing experiences. While we have a specific number of appointments we are required to attend, I do try to come to as many appointments as possible in order to establish a good rapport and become someone that you feel comfortable having as an extra support person.

I am based in the northern suburbs of Adelaide, however, I am willing to travel to where ever you may choose to birth.

If this sounds like something you may be interested in or wish to find out more information, please don't hesitate to PM me.

Best wishes to all those TCCing or expecting beautiful 2011 bundles original.gif

Pregnancy and birth enthusiast
Hello!

I'll add my details here for any women in the GEELONG region who are looking to have a student midwife follow them through their pregnancies.

My name is Isis, this year I will be a 3rd year double degree (B.Midwifery/B.Nursing) student at Deakin Uni. I have birthed three children, two in hospital and one at home. I have trained as a doula and have supported women in both hospital and home births. I am a long time member of EB and spend most of my time in the Home Birth forum. My ultimate aim for employment after graduation is in private midwifery, with the place of birth (home or hospital) being dictated by the woman and her baby's requirements.

I aim to have maximum of 2 women being followed at any time, so I can devote as much of my time to attending appointments in between lectures and my own child-wrangling. The only numbers that are applicable is that I am required to spend a minimum of 10 hours with you over the course of your pregnancy, birth and postnatally, with 2 appointments postnatally. Ideally we would meet while you are in the early stages of pregnancy (though the first meet can be up to 32 weeks) so we can get to know each other a little in order to build a rapport.

I am located just north of Geelong, and am willing to travel up to Werribee and down as far as Lorne and out to Ballarat. Please PM me if you are interested in taking part in this fantastic program and helping out a student midwife!

Student Midwife looking for pregnant women to assist with completion of studies.

Hi My Name Is Jill and I am a second year Student Midwife at ACU in Melbourne I require another 10 women for completion of the Follow Through Journey part of my degree.

My course requires me to spend time gaining an understanding of what is important to pregnant women. If you think you would like to help and contribute to my understanding of what is important to women during pregnancy and think you would be happy to share your experience of pregnancy, birth and early parenting experience, just drop me a PM.

I would love to have the opportunity to provide one-to-one support for you during your pregnancy journey while obtaining the experience I need to become an outstanding midwife.

You are in total control of the process and you decide the extent of my involvement.

You are free to withdraw from the program at anytime..no explanation required.

So, if you feel you would like to be part of this program or would like any further information please feel free to PM me.

I would love to hear from you.

Thanks rolleyes.gif

Hi! My name's Emily and I'm going into the last year of my midwifery degree (YAY!) at ACU in Melbourne. I'm searching for pregnant women who are willing to catch up every few weeks during their pregnancy to chat to me about their pregnancy, or perhaps even have me attend a few appointments.

Because each woman's journey through pregnancy and birth is so different it is fantastic for me to be able to meet with women one-on-one to talk about it and learn as much as I can!

I can be as involved as you would like me to be eg. attend the birth of your baby to help support you and/or your partner or just catch up for coffee occasionally. It is totally up to you!

I live in Carlton but I am more than happy to travel all over Melbourne.

Please PM me if you are interested or have any questions! Thanks!

STUDENT MIDWIFE 2011!!
Hi I'm Jodee a first year student midwife here in Perth I am looking for some lovely ladies that would allow me to be a part of their pregnancy and birthing experience. I am studying at Curtin Uni in Bentley.

I have been a Doula for the past 3 years and am a mum of 4 beautiful girls.

I would love to hear from women regardless of their birthing choices, as caesareans are as much a part of my experience as is natural birth, as well as public or private hospital settings.

So please feel free to PM me and we can meet up for a chat!

Jodee
