Mummygirl - yip - the belt is absolutely fabulous!!! biggrin.gif

City*Reader - nope - no maternity ward tour. sad.gif First it was an interview regarding billing etc - ie how much I would have to pay and they asked me to pay a $200 'excess' upfront. Then, I had to talk to a sister who asked me loads of questions about my medical history and last pregnancy, plus I had to do a multiple choice psychiatric test. Oh, and she measured me for those special socks that prevent DVT and gave me a whole lot of literature plus a special anticeptic body wash that I need to use the morning before my c-section.

As of today, I am officially four weeks away from my c-section!!! blink.gif Not sure if I feel wacko.gif or ddance.gif - it is suddenly so soon and so real!!!

Hey Everyone!

Sorry it's taken me a while to get back on here. The last few days of work were crazy and my weekend just flew by but I am now officially on leave! biggrin.gif I wanted to say thanks to everyone for your responses re: baby's position. I think bubs is still moving and I'm trying to get to terms with the fact that there are no guarantees. I am trying to remain positive and do all the right things re: walking, going on all fours, yoga etc. I have a scan next Monday and I'm really hoping it shows that baby is in a better position.

86Stace: Good luck with your appointment tomorrow! Hope it's good news and all goes according to plan!

CityReader: Thanks for that! I keep hoping that baby will turn as well. He/she is still moving around. The issue is that the OB is probably going to wait till 36-37 weeks and if bubs hasn't turned, she will try ECV if I'm ok with it; which I don't know enough about the risks at this stage... I'm still hoping it won't get to that stage and that bubs would have turned before then.

I've missed a bit about what other topics we were discussing! I'll comment on the ones I do remember! I promise to keep more up to date!

Weight gain: I'm up to 13 kgs at my last appointment! I was hoping not to go past 15 kgs but have resigned myself to yet another thing outside my control! original.gif I'm thinking quite a bit might be fluid because I'm certainly getting swollen feet and fingers now.

Birth: well, it is my first so I'm expecting it to be fairly long. I am definitely thinking of Rasperry Leaf tea too; I read somewhere you had to wait for 36 weeks before starting it? That's less than 2 weeks away for me!! I'm also planning on starting perineum massage then.

Hope you're all going ok! I'll have a bit more time now to keep up!

Take care everyone!
Anj

BRONZE

AnjG - I had an ECV with DD2 (unsuccessful, obviously). Everything was fine. It was merely uncomfortable up until the last twenty seconds or so, which were actually painful, but she (the ob) was done then anyway. Left me feeling a bit sore and bruised for a couple of days afterward but nothing extraordinary. Oh and DD2 was fine - they do a trace before, during(? i think) and after the ECV then a couple of days later to make sure baby is fine and they will do an emergency CS if anything goes wrong during the procedure so while there are some small risks, they're well managed. Mine was done in delivery suite, in a hospital gown, with a cannula in - ready to go for a CS at the drop of a hat if necessary! At my hospital following the unsuccessful ECV they book you in for your elective CS basically straight away (well I had to wait a few days to find out the exact date and time, but it's pretty soon after).

I used raspberry leaf tea with DD1, from around 30 weeks. I don't know if it helped but I doubt it hurt, given labour was only 6 hours long for me and the pushing stage was short and easy which isn't bad for a first labour (and I only had 12 hours of prelabour which sure beats weeks of it).

meerkat - shame you didn't get a tour. you're so close! so exciting!

hey everyone...

had my appointment this morning with the midwife... Well my placenta has apparently moved away from the danger zone so I'm fine to deliver naturally. But on the other hand I'm a tad worried. I have to go for another scan as the report wrote "large head size for baby" the midwife informs me baby is developing fine and my fundal height is perfect but the size of my baby's head is larger then the rest of the body. Apparently the head is in the 97th percentile range and the rest of the body is 50th percentile range. So I'm waiting on the u/s ppl to call back with an appointment then next thursday i have an appointment with obstetrics to compare growth rates.

Now I'm completely stressed out.. could my baby have something wrong with him....? anyone had this happen before to them?

my husband and i are are small... as in short so i don't expect my baby to be large... but head size.. now i know i was born with a small head and my husband has no idea but his head doesn't look large...

my midwife told me not to stress but help.. I'm stressing out here.....

AngG - re water retention - this can account for an enormous amount of weight. Last time, my weight the day before I had bubs was 17kgs heavier than my weight the day after!!! blink.gif I kid you not! The doctors and nurses were flabbergasted as most of it was just water retention! For me this time though, I am not retaining as much water, so its mostly weight that I will have to lose later! blush.gif Hope your bubs turns soon!

86stace - wow wow wow!!! That is fantastic news re the moved placenta!!! biggrin.gif Re the head size - some babies just have big heads - my best friend's babies had simply the most enormous heads - to a point that they could only wear the button-down onsies (not the ones with a stretch neck or two buttons on the neck), as the other ones wouldn't go over their heads!!! Absolutely nothing wrong with them - both in school now - they "grew" into their big heads! biggrin.gif

Hi ladies!

Oh Not long to go now! It's getting exciting!

AnjG - sending you lots of baby turning vibes! I'm taking raspberry leaf tablets, been taking them a few weeks. I took them with DD and had a good labour so am taking them again this time. Will start evening primrose oil next week too. I figure it can't hurt original.gif

86stace-great news about your placenta! What a relief! I know it's easy to say not to stress, but really, everyone can't be on the 50th percentile, some babies will measure big and others small. DDs head was 39cm and I only had a graze, so big head doesn't necessarily mean difficulties.

Myfirstbubba - DD was 4.65 kg, so not huge but big. So not all big babies are boys! original.gif
Sorry your getting inconsistent opinions, frustrating I bet! The longer baby is in the better, less chance of respiratory problems at birth. I'd go for the later date, unless there are issues? Why are you having a caesar again? I can't remember.

Hi to everyone else, hope you're doing well!!

AFM not much to report, bub is comfortable head down it seems, wiggling lots and hiccuping constantly. 3 weeks left of work, can't wait! Starting to get pretty tired. I've stopped asking about babies size, last appointment I was 7 weeks ahead. I figure I'll live in ignorant bliss from here on in!

Anyone with Two or more kids have any advice on any purchases you found helpful for number 2 onwards? I think we're pretty set but thought I'd see if anyone has any tips!

Morning Girls,

We had our growth scan this morning at 34+4 and yes - she's still a GIRL original.gif original.gif

And she's perfect wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif

Measuring about 5 and a half pounds right now and on track to be close to our boys, or slightly larger, at birth - 3.5kg. Happy with that! She has the same long legs as her brothers too original.gif

Sorry this is quick and all about me - have to get moving today, new sitter coming soon and need to get the boys lunch.

5.5 weeks to go!!!!!! Whooohooo, after seeing her beautiful face today, I can't wait to meet her!!

Hi Girls,

Not much to report here.

Re list, I know chocmudcake and hoovooloo have both become pregnant again since their miscarriage, so maybe remove them? Also has anyone heard from Erindiv? She sounded fairly suicidal last time she was on here.

Hope your ok Erin waves.gif

Ive dropped to 2 days work per week, much better as Im not sleeping at night, so a day between lets me get some rest, yay.
