Hi everyone, Im new to posting. As the title says i just found out thru hpt I'm pregnant with #4. My DH and i had made the decission after our DD was born that our family was complete.
I have no idea how far along i am and have not told DH as yet.
The problem i have is i dont know how he will take it. I know he does not want anymore kids and i can understand why. I am not against abortions but really dont think i could go thru one.
In my situation he really does ahve a huge say in this as He is my full time carer and also the main person that looks after the kids. I have suffered with severe PTSD and Depression for the last 18 months so our life already is a huge stuggle.
My Kids ages are DS10 DD8 and DD5 and i know adding the forth is a lot different to three. I am really at a loss what to do. If anyone has been thru anything like this or anyone has any advise please help
I do know the first thing i have to do is talk to DH then make a doctors appointment but after that im stumped

First things first, congratulations on your pregnancy hheart.gif

Our number 5 was a surprise, after we thought our family was complete. It threw a spanner in several plans original.gif I remember shaking as I tried to gasp out the news to dh - I was almost hysterical! However just today i was looking at her and thinking: if it had been purely our choice, this little person, who brings us so much delight wouldn't have been here. I'm grateful the decision was taken out of our hands.

Unexpected things happen - both good and bad. All we can do is roll with the punches and make the best of it.

I'm sorry the last 18 months have been so rocky for you. Do you have a counsellor you can check in with, to work through how you're feeling at the moment?

Also I've heard others suggest that perhaps you don't tell dh face to face. That way he can react in private - just as you've been able to do - and then you can move forward together. Would that work for you? Or do the two of you work best if you can discuss face to face straight away?

You might like also to head over to the large families section. They are a very supportive bunch, and have loads of ideas of managing a larger-than-average family.

I wish you all the best!

OP, although your husband didn't want more children, neither did you. You didn't plan this, it just happened, so I hope he is supportive and you can get through this together.
All the best and congratulations...! I know how daunting unexpected pregnancies can be...

Thanks for your replys. I have told DH and it took it really well. He has a huge soft spot for babies. He said he was happy when we had one child then he was just as happy with 2 then just as happy with three so he said oh well he'll be just as happy with 4. I really wish i had the same outlook on life as him. I am starting to get my head around it a little better, but am still scared as hell. I took another HPT this arvo one of the digital ones as i have know idea how far along i am and it came up pregnant 3+ so i just have to wait and see the doctor to find out. I know this will be a long road for me but lucky i have DH to help my get my head around things. Thanks again for your replys
