Hi Ladies, does anyone use their TMX much for ice-cream,...........any thoughts appreciated! I use the thermi to make the custard, but I then churn it in an icecream maker. I just bought a cheap one of deals direct. I think it only cost about $30 delivered. You freeze the bowl in the freezer and it just stirs your cold mix until you have icecream. It's only good for one batch at a time before the bowl needs re-freezing and it makes around 1-1.5L, but that's plenty for us. Can anyone link me to a recipe for making scrolls for kids lunches? The spinach and cheese one that someone mentioned making earlier sounds great! I'd be great to make a whole batch and then freeze. I used the EDC bread recipe, but because I didn't have any whole wheat, I substituted a similar weight of crushed wheatbix. I figured they are 97% whole wheat. I then followed the rest of the recipe. When it was ready to bake I shaped it into a big rectangle, spread it with my fillings and rolled it into a big sausage. I used a big serated knife to cut it into 2cm slices, trying not to squash it as I did. Bake on baking paper so fillings don't stick. |

Don't want to brag, but he also made chilli con carne for dinner, and even minced the beef himself. He had seriously not cooked for about 10 years before the Thermomix arrived QUOTE I used the EDC bread recipe, but because I didn't have any whole wheat, I substituted a similar weight of crushed wheatbix. Great thanks for that. Sounds quite simple. Are they freezable as well? I made this ice cream tonight. Can't to eat it when it's all frozen! |

I've had mine for a week now. Ill admit I'm a bit in awe and not confident with it but I presume I'll grow.
I've made 2 meals from the EDC book and they were ok, not fantastic, I did make a "little" mistake in my reading of the recipes. I really want to start using the varoma but we haven't had that demo yet. DP went mad, he is much more confident than me, making dip and sorbet. It is quite a transition from my usual cooking, I think it will take time for our relationship to develop and I will not give up!! Any encouragement or suggestions on early use to build confidence would be much appreciated |

I made the Traditional Creamy Ice Cream from the EDC the other day. It's very rich. I split the mixture in half and added some instant coffee to make a coffee batch and it's a big winner

In regards to the ice cream. I just make a runnier custard and then freeze in ice cube trays and then whiz up once frozen. It's more of a cheat type ice cream though. DH and I prefer it as it doesn't have any cream in it so a bit more healthier for an everyday type thing.

in the recipe book that has all the kids snacks/ afternoon treats etc (I forget what it's called) they have this super cute idea that I've been waiting for an occassion to try. Basically you get those flat bottomed ice cream cones and pour cake mixture in and cook it and then put icing on to look like an ice cream cone. I love it!

Last night for dessert I whizzed up some frozen banana, raspberries and greek yoghurt. It was devine, and hard to believe it wasn't 'bad' for us!
