Most used present - our ironing board, which is still going strong 24 years later. Other presents we still use include the kitchen clock (a lovely Cobb and Co one), a standard lamp, hand-held mixer, a painting and crystal glasses.

Ugliest gift - very scratchy, thin purple towels with brown gingham trim and yellow embroidery. However we are still using them - as cleaning rags they're brilliant!

I know we got lots of gifts but they're the most memorable ones.

I can't pick a single *best* gift. But there are a few that we used quite frequently and as a result, we'll never forget who gave them to us for our wedding.

- handmade wooden fruit bowl, beautifully woodturned. It sits on the dining table, always looks great.
- a bunch of board & card games - scrabble, pictionary, jenga, taboo, backgammon, skip-bo and uno, monopoly. Very useful. This was a gift from a family I had grown up with - all the kids (now adults) pitched in for that and picked all the games we used to play on rainy days when our families got together
- dictionary & thesaurus (although I am starting to use online versions lately)
- 12 setting cutlery set, good quality. We use it as our everyday set.
- wall clock
- 8 dri-glo luxury towels with matching bathmats, hand towels and face washers. Still using them now - about to hit 10 years and they are doing well. Never would have bought that ourselves, so that was lovely.
- a really good picnic backpack, 2 travel rugs and a set of boules. We hardly ever take that out of the car - it gets used so often.

Both sets of parents gave us money and with that, we bought our sofas & ottoman, dining table and buffet and the TV cabinet.

We didn't have a wishing well, although some people gave money. We let them know what we bought with the gift and tried to think of something that we wanted but was also in keeping with what the person was like who gave us the money (eg. one friend was very happy to learn he had given us tennis racquets & a frisbee, since we do a lot of outdoor stuff with him)

My uncle and aunt gave us a lovely frame for our wedding certificate - it was one of those around 5cm deep ones that we could put wedding flowers and a photo from the day in. We have given one to2 other couples for their wedding days, we all have them on display and love them (they were around $200, we pitched in with others for our friends)

We were given a copy of Stephanie Alexander's Cook Companion and we use it regularly. Nice towels are also well, nice, as they are a boring item to spend lots of money on yourself.

When DH and I got married, we did exactly what you are doing - got married at my parents house. We had been living together for about 12 months and had a house full of stuff, so didn't need anything. Added to that, we got married in Perth when we actually lived in Melbourne, so any gifts we received, we would have to bring home with us...

We had everyone contribute to our honeymoon fund. We had organised/ pre booked with our travel agent and people could either give us the cash or phone and make a deposit to our fund. We then just paid the balance on the honeymoon...

We put in a little poem about how we had shared lots of things but were yet to share a holiday (which was true). Everyone was receptive to this and had no issues with it...

Apart from money, a wheelbarrow and gardening stuff was up there.

It's certainly one of the only things I remember.

Individual coffee plunger cups - really nice design with a lid. Sounds funny but after DD was born, it meant that we could have a cup of brewed coffee, and when she started crying, it was just to put the lid on, and it was warm when we had time to drink it. We use them daily.

Also got given a gift voucher to the local aquatic centre. We really appreciated the thought of going as a couple and having a swim (well a number of visits)

We needed a new kitchen table and chairs, and we let the relatives know. We got a number of cheques, and that went towards it. We had it delivered a few days before the wedding. Also got given gift vouchers to various home decorating stores. And of course the usual kitchen and household items, but nothing we wanted ot re-gift.

Ta Da!
My most treasured gift we were given was a piece of art made especially for us by one of our guests. Every time I look at it I'm reminded of our wedding day.

We also got a lot of vouchers as we were renovating.

My brother is getting married soon and the family is putting in to get them a voucher for flights so they can go on a honeymoon.
